His illustration and design are marked by a distinctive creative vision and direct approach, Communicating the visual idea of BAO: the unbowed carabao in a vibrant message of power and pride in this national symbol and iconic creature of labor.

A few black and bold strokes capture the original BAO sculpture in line, shape and form - mirroring the massive mosaic art that sits outside The Negros Museum. The BAO font used captures in the letter A the rooflines of native thatch overhangs in homes across Filipino islands.

BAO's character and persona are immediately conveyed in distinct elements of space, imagery, typography and color. Coming together cohesively to deliver this visual reproduction that viewers can immediately appreciate.

This cohesive design is contextually relevant and convey the renewed message and tone while remaining authentic to BAO's original commission. A simple and direct new design to match the majesty of BAO the three ton giant.

Lord & Taylor ad look for Vintage Black Label

Vintage Black Label is a vintage clothing resale label that also designs and produces new collections from vintage material. George illustrated a new line of their mantel summer creations - shirts and shifts made from recycled vintage tablecloths, or 'mantel' in our Pinoy dialect.

In tandem with the brand's vintage fashion for this series, George opted for a campaign design evocative of old Lord & Taylor print ads from the past. Layout and copy were his styling homage to the great L&T illustrator, Fred Greenhill.

selfless service

Happy Birthday, Millie Kilayko !  the birthday girl at her gift giving post For many in Negros Island and its outlying provinces this remains a place where life can be a terrifying gamble. taking a bow

Shortly after BAO’s debut, in the time of COVID lockdown and great uncertainty — a majestic mosaic carabao took residency at the front steps of The Negros Museum, an apt home for this symbol of art and culture and the voice of our urban city and rural province. We wanted an art installation that would ignite the interest and kindle the imagination of its viewers — inspiring more to rediscover the roots and stories embedded and embodied here. We hope BAO — the unbowed carabao captures the hearts and wild imaginings of local viewers, visiting tourists, resident creatives, and the world at large. From being our steadfast farming companion, may this vibrant creature become NSC’s voice and presence — sharing thoughtful insights and current updates on relevant and valuable issues and topics.
